Union Pacific has gained widespread national recognition for being an excellent place to work. Here are just a few of our awards:
- BusinessWeek named Union Pacific among the top 50 "Best Places to Launch a Career."
- The Secretary of Defense named Union Pacific the recipient of the Freedom Award, the highest recognition given to employers for their support of their employees who also serve in the National Guard and Reserve.
- G.I. Jobs magazine has again named Union Pacific the most military-friendly employer in the country.
- Latina Style magazine has recognized Union Pacific every year since 2003 as one of the top 50 companies in the country for our efforts promoting diversity and providing career advancement opportunities for Hispanic women.
- Working Mother magazine put Union Pacific on its "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" list in 2006 for the fifth time.
- Union Pacific is a four-time winner of the C. Everett Koop National Health Award, which recognizes programs that improve health and reduce medical care costs by reducing health risks and changing behaviors through health promotion programs.
- We've won the Wellness Councils of America's most prestigious honor, the Platinum Well Workplace Award for our employee health programs.
- The Institute for Health and Productivity Management has given Union Pacific its Corporate Health and Productivity Management Awards, Levels I & II, for the railroad’s investment in the health of our employees.
- Union Pacific was one of the first winners of the U.S Department of Health and Human Services Innovation in Prevention Award, which honors organizations and businesses who take the lead in promoting healthy lifestyles in their communities.
- Our efforts to help our employees stop smoking were commended by the U.S. Surgeon General in his 2004 report "The Health Consequences of Smoking."
- The National Business Group on Health named Union Pacific one of the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles with its Platinum Award.
